The VoxInforma Podcast: The Tararizt

The Tararizt

The Tararizt is a lifelong musician and activist (or what she would call “artivist”) who seeks to make the world better through her music. Rather than writing overtly political lyrics and expressing frustration over problems, she aims simply to write songs that make her listeners smile and feel more connected to each other as they move their feet to her groovy beats.  A message of oneness is the theme that ties her music together.  She can be seen playing shows around Hollywood, both independently and on sax with numerous funk/afrobeat/soul groups.

The VoxInforma Podcast: Mr. Poetic

Mr. Poetic is a three-time Hollywood Slam Team member and has even won the coveted position of Grand Slam Master for the Hollywood Team. A poet of shockingly raw and honest expression, Mr. Poetic calls out other poets who prefer style over substance, or, as he would say, “get too happy with it.” In our interview with Mr. Poetic, we discuss everything from the women in our lives, to the potential role of illicit substances as part of the creative process, to the legacy of Michael Jackson. A man of great confidence, but little ego, we also had the pleasure of pre and after partying with our guest. It is our honor to present to you, our new friend, Mr. Poetic.

The VoxInforma Podcast: Mike the Poet

For the latest episode of the VoxInforma podcast we interviewed a man who’s reputation precedes him: Mike the Poet.

Part poet, part tour guide, part historian, he’s been featured in the LA Times, the OC Weekly, and he’s been enjoyed and praised at venues across the southland. He’s also released an audio cd and a book of poetry titled “I am Alive in Los Angeles!”

Mike had so many great things to talk about that we didn’t want to cut him off, but we figure an hour should be a good enough dose to get you out to a venue to see this man in person, and we look forward to catching up with him in the future to talk more about his work.

To read more about Mike, check out the article on him in the LA Times.

The VoxInforma Podcast: Jessamyn and Ryan

The second episode of the VoxInforma podcast is now availble for download.

Jessamyn and Ryan are a musical duo specializing in jazz standards and creative covers. Jessamyn’s rich vocals and Ryan’s restrained guitar breathe new life into music that otherwise has fallen off many people’s radar. Their combination of talent and selection stand out in a scene that’s otherwise often cluttered with the same tired material. Whether you know the tunes or not, you’ll appreciate what they bring to the table.

Additionally, beginning with the announcement of this, our second episode, you can now find our podcast in the iTunes podcast directory. If you have itunes installed, go ahead and click this link to launch iTunes and go straight to our podcast. This episode should hopefully be available there by the time you read this. From there you can subscribe and receive new episodes every two weeks as soon as they’re available. You can also find our first episode featuring David A. Romero there.
